Fisker Automotive receives $528.7 million government loan - Oakland Press Posted: 22 Sep 2009 11:28 PM PDT By KEN THOMAS Associated Press Writer WASHINGTON (AP) — The Obama administration will provide more than $500 million in loans to a California manufacturer of luxury electric vehicles to develop two plug-in hybrid vehicle lines. The Energy Department announced Tuesday that it would lend $528.7 million to Fisker Automotive from a $25 billion fund to develop fuel-efficient vehicles. The government awarded $8 billion in loans to Ford Motor Co., Nissan Motor Co. and Tesla Motors Inc. in June. Energy Secretary Steven Chu says the project will lead to 5,000 jobs created or saved for domestic parts suppliers and thousands more to build plug-in hybrids. Geely says to issue $334 mln conv bonds, warrants to Goldman - Forbes Posted: 22 Sep 2009 05:01 PM PDT HONG KONG, Sept 23 (Reuters) - Geely Automobile Holdings , China's largest privately owned auto maker, said on Wednesday it plans to raise HK$2.59 billion ($334 million) in convertible bonds and warrants to an affiliate of Goldman Sachs . Geely, which has said its parent is considering bidding for Ford's Swedish car brand Volvo, said the proceeds will be used to fund capital expenditures, potential acquisitions and for general working capital.
